Zazzle is Officially More Popular than Cafepress

According to internet traffic monitoring site, Alexa.com, Zazzle currently beats CafePress in pretty much every major internet traffic metric. You can compare the two for yourself with Alexa's reporting tools.

At that link...
* Type cafepress.com in one of the "Compare To" boxes and click compare.

* Click on the drop down menu just above that box and expand your charts to "Max".

* Flip through the various metrics on the dark blue menu bar.

You'll see how Zazzle's stats have steadily increased as CafePress's have steadily decreased and just a few weeks ago Zazzle surpassed CafePress's traffic rank!

The internet has spoken!

Ghana (Yes We Can) Flag Design

President Barack Obama's historic visit to Ghana, the first sub-Saharan country to gain independence, was a momentous occasion for Ghanaians to say the least. During his stay, he addressed the people of the African continent with praise and yet a stern call for change. He made it clear that Africa's destiny is up to it's people. He ended with a spin-off of the popular slogan from his presidential campaign saying, "Yes You Can". The latest design at WearFlags is for those that heard and believe his words.

Pan-African Flag T-Shirts

The newest product line at WearFlags features designs inspired by our first ethnic flag. The Pan-African Flag, incorporating the colors red, black, and green is a simple design with a profound meaning. Originally designed as a banner for Marcus Garvey's United Negro Improvement Association, this flag has become a symbol of African-American unity and pride.

It is believed that the red represents the blood which was shed to achieve liberation, the black represents the people, and the green represents the abundant natural wealth of the African continent.

This new line of t-shirts and products, available at WearFlags.com, display powerful statements and words using this flag such as "Unity" and "Black is Beautiful". Celebrate your heritage. Show your pride. Wear the Flag!

Products for Peace in Mexico

I'm like most people. I watch the news to see what's going on in the world and the enormity of the issues we as a global community face sometimes makes me feel powerless. There are people all over the world struggling to survive everyday but we have our own lives to live. What can we do about it? The easy answer is nothing. It's easy to ignore what's going on if it doesn't affect us. On the other hand it takes effort to affect change. In fact, it takes lots of effort by many people. However, that effort can begin with something as small as raising the issue at the dinner table, or writing a blog post, or donating $10 to a charitable organization. I've found that my small effort can be promoting peace through the designs I create for WearFlags.com.

In light of the escalating drug war in Mexico and the thousands of lives lost I decided to promote peace with my latest product line. Below are my first two designs intended to show some support for the innocent victims in Mexico. I can't save them myself but maybe someone who wears my products can get the attention of someone who can.

Widget Cross-Browser Issues Resolved

Recently, a fellow Zazzler brought to my attention the fact that one of the Zazzle Widgets I have developed wasn't playing nicely with Internet Explorer. I don't know how that slipped by me. After a little investigation, it turned out I had similar problems with all of them.

Cross-browser issues are always a pain. Ask any web designer or developer. Anyway, I did some minor tweaking on all of the widgets to ensure that they would display correctly in IE, Fireforx, Safari, and Google Chrome. Nothing is perfect but, for now it seems like they're all working fine. If anyone notices any other problems please let me know.

By the way, I also added some features that were requested a while ago to the My Zazzle Products widget. Previously the borders around the images were stuck at Zazzle Store Builder's default color. Now you can customize that too and even choose a secondary border color to use when the products are hovered over.

Enjoy!

New Zazzle Gallery Directory on Facebook

Note to my fellow Zazzlers,

Are you on Facebook? Are you constantly looking for new ways to promote your Zazzle gallery? Cafepress shop owners have a directory going that's 349 members strong. I saw that there was no such directory for Zazzle Galleries on Facebook, so I decided to create one.

If you own a Zazzle Gallery and would like to have your link listed on the directory, join the group post your gallery link on the wall. We'll use your Zazzle Star!

New Zazzle Featured Products Widget

This past week I've released another Zazzle widget! This time my aim was to develop something that would mimic the functionality of Zazzle's Top Picks feature that lots of us use on our galleries. My new widget gives you the ability to pick your best products and display them in a fully customizable slideshow. This widget does not rely on RSS so you have complete control over which products are shown!

You can even add your own text to show along with each image. Choose to show a different message for each product or break up one message into several parts. Use the control buttons or leave them hidden, and even link to pagess that use Zazzle's Zbar.

To top it all off, this time you can use your own Associate ID. The widget rolls the dice. Half of the time it uses your ID and the other half of the time it uses mine.

So far I've put out three widgets. Each functions in a slightly different way. When combined these tools allow you to incorporate nearly everything you love about your Zazzle gallery into your own website, blog, or social profile.

In the example below, I threw in a couple of my products to show you what it looks like.

Flag Skateboards

One of the joys of Zazzle is seeing the cool things other shop owners come up with. While peeking around at products other designers have come up with I came across a lot of very unique skateboard designs inspired by the flags of nations across the globe like my products. On Zazzle, you can create your own custom skateboard or choose from over 30,000 custom designs. They're all made from North American Maple decks and range from $60 - $175 depending on whether you buy the deck itself or a complete set with wheels, etc. I decided to create a Squidoo lens of my favorite Flag Skateboards on Zazzle.

Valentine's Day Heart Flags

For the upcoming Valentine's Day Holiday, I've come up with a new concept that looks great and fits the WearFlags brand quite well. The new Heart Flag products each feature the flag of a country in the shape of a three-dimensional heart. These images are available on t-shirts, cards, hats, mugs, buttons, magnets, keychains (as you see below), and more. They're the perfect way to celebrate your love and your nationality at the same time.

Where's your heart?

Cities

This week I've been cranking out new designs with the names of Cities around the world. They are very similar to my designs with the names of the countries but the city names are a little more personal and will likely make better souvenirs for travelers visiting my shop. These products could also be great for resale by brick and mortar souvenir shops in those countries. Zazzle ships all-over the globe and has discounts for bulk purchases. That means anyone from anywhere in the world can purchase my flag t-shirts and resell them to tourists in their country!

Here's a peak at some of the cities I've done so far...

These are all available on Men's and Women's t-shirts, keychains, hats, buttons, mousepads, and more. To see all "Cities" products, visit http://www.zazzle.com/wearflags/cities+gifts

New Year, New Product Lines

I've added three new product lines to the WearFlags gallery for the New Year. We now have flag t-shirt designs for Argentina, Ghana, and Guyana

Why them? I wanted to get more South American countries out so that explains Argentina and Guyana. By the way I love the Guyanese flag. It's just so unique.

Ghana was one that really should have been in my first group. I had a feeling these colors would look great on the flag and I love what it represents. Ghana was the first African nation to achieve independence. It was also the first (after 19th century Ethiopia) to introduce the symbolic Pan-African colors (red, yellow, green, and black) into African flag designs and became an inspiration of many other African countries. "The black star in the center is the star of African freedom. Red recalls the blood shed by freedom fighters, yellow represents mineral wealth, and green is symbolic of the country's rich forests." - Wikipedia

To say the least, the Ghanaian flag is very significant and I'm proud to portray it with my designs.
